The memory of your trips

Why keep your catches in a logbook?

A gallery photo recalls a fish. A logbook also lets you find the species, date and details you chose to record, then watch your collection grow with each trip.

Find the moment behind the photo

In Pêchedex, every catch is saved with a photo, a species and a date. You can add size, lure or bait, a description and a personal location if these details matter to you. A few words often recall a trip far better than a filename.

Revisiting your history lets you find a first catch, a shared trip or a species you had not seen for a long time.

Note the conditions you remember

You can add catch time, sky, air temperature, precipitation, wind, environment type, water clarity and, at sea, the tide if you observed them. These fields are optional and entered manually: Pêchedex does not automatically retrieve weather or GPS coordinates.

This information helps you revisit trips and compare your own experiences. It does not prove that a particular condition causes a catch. If you share your logbook, the conditions entered are visible with the catch; the entered location stays personal.

See what you have encountered

Your history counts catches; your collection counts discovered species. Several catches of one species enrich your story without inflating the species count. You can explore undiscovered species and choose a next species as a personal goal.

You can keep this logbook private or make it public. A private profile only gives access to followers you approve; a public profile makes all your catches visible, even without an account.

Keep your originals too

Pêchedex works with an Internet connection. Keep your original photos if you want them independently of the service: logbook images are re-encoded for the app. The current version does not offer a full self-service logbook export.

Always use the same sign-in method and account to find your catches. Apple, Google and email identities, when email is available, are not automatically merged.
