Your fishing locations
Your spots stay your references.
A fishing location can be a precious memory. Pêchedex lets you note a reference for yourself without asking for GPS coordinates or displaying a map of your catches.
An optional location, written by you
To save a catch, you need a photo, a species and a date. The location field is optional: leave it empty or write a reference meaningful to you without giving an exact address. Pêchedex does not ask for a GPS point, track your movements or plot your catches on a map.
If you fill in this field, it stays in your personal logbook. It is not shown in the feed, on your public profile or in the logbook viewed by your followers. You can see it in your own catch’s details.
A photo may tell more than you intend
When saved, the photo is re-encoded as JPEG; the original file’s geolocation metadata is not kept in the photo published by Pêchedex. This does not make its content anonymous: a recognisable bank, sign, building or landscape may be enough to locate a place.
A catch’s description and a story’s text or image may also give clues. Catch conditions you enter manually, such as time, sky, wind or water clarity, are visible with the post to people authorised to view it.
Choose who can view your logbook
With a private profile, you approve requests before other anglers can view your logbook. With a public profile, your catches and photos are accessible to everyone, even without an account. This applies to all past and future catches; there is no per-catch visibility setting.
Stories stay limited to your approved followers for 24 hours. Switching your profile to private closes public access to your logbook but does not remove images or screenshots already shared elsewhere.
Three checks before sharing
Look at the photo background, reread your description and check the conditions you entered. If a detail reveals a spot you want to keep to yourself, choose another photo or remove that detail before posting.
You can keep your logbook to yourself by choosing a private profile and approving no followers. Sharing is optional; the memory of your catch remains useful even without a social post.
